What is NHIS?

The Tamil Nadu state government has issued a government order for implementing the New Health Insurance Scheme for its employees on 2021. Based on this, employees of the state government departments, state public sector undertaking, local bodies, statutory, government school teachers and universities and colleges officers, among other and their eligible family members.

The state government made agreement with the United India Insurance Company, Chennai to execute the New Health Insurance Scheme in the Tamil Nadu. It covers 203 approved treatments and surgeries with 1,169 empanelled hospitals.
